Um, Did I Mention No TRASH???
Recently we wrote of finding a community center that not only took various colored glass off our hand but doled out free mulch as a bonus. Well, we'll still go there for the free mulch, but now our refuse service has one-upped their green...
Hitherto it was thought our service recycle program took only #'s 1 & 2 plastics; a check yesterday revealed #'s 1-7 are accepted.
We no longer need haul glass over the highway to get it recycled. You guessed it-- our service is picking it up now. And cardboard of all sorts. And...
Well, already we reuse, burn, compost and recycle near everything we can, and the end result is less than half a bag of "trash" per week. [Trash being meat and/or dairy substances neither compostable nor feral-critter consumable and other small maknkindmadeweirdos...] Now it looks as if that will be reduced by a whopping75% again!!!
Upon inquiry as to whether we might procure a larger recycling bin or three given their expanded pickup, we were informed that the large 'refuse' containers are being phased out as more sort-friendly bins are phased in...
Sounds like a win-win all the way around!

How lucky! It's great that you minimize the amount of trash you contribute. More people ought to be doing this.
